I am finally taking the time to share the highlights of our latest adventure. We went on our first spring break vacation. It was also our first road trip of more than 4 hours to Utah. We made our way to Arizona during the last week of March. Everyone who knew we were going with 6 children, one that was only 5 months old, would laugh a little and say good luck. Well I am pleased to report that we survived. In fact I would say that it was a huge success. We had a great time. Dad didn't take his blackberry or computer. Mom didn't cook one meal. We all had fun just being together. The best part was watching our children see new things and the different scenery the further south we went. We chose to go to Arizona because both Kevan's grandmother and Shari's grandmother live there and because it is warmer in Arizona in March than it is in Idaho. We also wanted to show our kids where we went fo our honeymoon 18 years ago. Well now for our trips top 10 list.
10. Hearing funny stories about Dad at his mission reunion.
9. Lunch at a 50's retro diner in Las Vegas (but don't use the bathrooms P.U.)
8. Maid Service - we slept at a hotel every night.
7. Hanging out with Mom's best friend from high school, Dawn Newsom Carpenter.
6. Eating Mexican food in Arizona (soooooo gooood!)
5. Catching a Lizard in Wickenburg and EXPLORING with Aunt Sara (oh, yes we did.)
4. Eating enough food to feed Mom's whole family at a picnic (we think that Grandma Hansen and Aunt Sara thought we were bringing everyone with us.)
3. Witnessing a snowstorm at the Grand Canyon (we couldn't see the canyon, even standing at the edge.)
2. Seeing the Grand Canyon in the morning sunshine the day after the storm
BEAUTIFUL!
1. Visiting with Grandma Workman in Mesa and Grandma Hansen and Aunt Sara in Wickenburg.
Our trip was great and if you want to know if we will ever go on a 2000 mile road trip again, the answer is a great big YES!
