My favorite part of first birthdays is watching how each child reacts to the freedom of digging into a piece of cake all by themselves.
Olivia didn't know what to think when the frosting stuck to her fingers. First she tried to get it off by throwing it, grandpa almost got a direct hit.
It didn't take to long and she realized that it tasted good and she made a great mess of herself. 
When daddy picked her up to clean her up he found out that more was in her lap than went into her mouth. Olivia was very pleased she got cake and a bath.
